Our Mission

The Sunshiners’ story began on June 8th, 2019, when the band members played together for the first time at a climate action arts event.  They loved their musical energy and decided to form a band that created music designed to inspire climate action.

The band members come from wide-ranging musical backgrounds.  Kipyn Martin is an accomplished singer-songwriter and performer with three solo albums.  Jeff Weisner is a classical musician who plays double bass for the National Symphony Orchestra.   Rick Sullivan is a retired psychotherapist and has been singing and playing guitar for over 50 years.  They all have a history of involvement with climate action and organizing.  The Sunshiners project represents their belief in the power of music to move people and their determination to do whatever we can do to preserve our planet for our children and grandchildren.

Humanity is in crisis.  We cannot rest.
